Ephememo-ries:Till Next Time》

Participatory AI Art Across Hong Kong and Shenzhen

Exhibition “Ephememo-ries: Till Next Time” Begins at The Corner Shop

Duration:

2025.10.10 — mid November

Forgotten memories of old neighborhoods reveal vivid stories of a city, its history, and its people, pinpointing its transformation at a specific period. This October, journey through time with the debut of “Ephememo-ries: Till Next Time,” a community-driven exhibition held as part of the 10th Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (UABB) - Shenzhen. A unique cross-boundary cultural project organized by Hong Kong and Shenzhen, UABB delves into themes of urbanism in global cities to offer an innovative perspective on architecture and development. “Ephememo-ries: Till Next Time” is part of a significant exhibition that spans multiple cities across China, with The Corner Shop at MONDRIAN Hong Kong as the only location in Hong Kong to host this exhibition.

In an exhilarating three-part trilogy, the exhibition honours MONDRIAN Hong Kong’s ongoing commitment to embracing local culture through new perspectives. Part One, on display from 10th October to mid-November, will be hosted at The Corner Shop, the hotel’s immersive, street-level art space that nurtures genuine connections by celebrating the city’s dynamic cultural and creative spirit.

From the moment you step within, “Ephememo-ries: Till Next Time” is an interactive experience, emphasizing a spotlight on community engagement through collaborative co-creation and data collection. Guests are guided into a reimagined telephone booth to share memories of the vibrant

Tsim Sha Tsui and Hart Avenue neighborhood. A relic of a bygone era, the once ubiquitous telephone booth is used simply as a nostalgic backdrop for photographs today. To inspire the way guests interact with public spaces and their forgotten objects, the exhibition gives the old telephone booth a new purpose, reimagining it as a futuristic, memory-collecting time tunnel to honor its past significance as an essential communication tool.

Guests are encouraged to engage and actively participate in the exhibition, answering curated questions displayed on a tablet installed within the booth. As they reminisce on fond experiences, the stories set the foundation for the final art piece, forming a larger showcase centred around a single shared memory. These are transformed into imaginative AI-generated visuals brought to life through Generative AI, underpinned by an emotional narrative that bridges fascinating tales from the modern cities of Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
